Journal Entry #1: Sneasel
The professor told me I should probably start keeping a journal of all the shit that's about to happen to me. She seems to think I can make it into a book or something, but I'm not that good of a writer so she's probably wrong. Oh, sure, someone will get published. Ain't me, though.
At this point, I'm so mad I'm apathetic. Even with my two new Pokémon I feel empty. I spent all day wandering aimlessly down this route outside of Avina and can scarcely remember the events of my day. I don't know how I feel about the creature the professor gave me. I'm not a trainer. I guess it makes sense that they're starting me like a beginner.
Something bizarre happened today out in forest, around dusk. I was walking on and on, and I was blind to the sunset, though I imagine it must have been a stunning view from where I was. Oceanside hilltops were always some of my favorite places. Anyway, I'm walking in this forest minding my own business, when I hear something stalking me through the brush. My first thought, naturally, was, "Oh, shit!" followed immediately by, "It's probably nothing." My thoughts are pretty fickle, it seems. But I was right, there was something following me, this little black thing with these huge claws and a feather on its head. I first spotted it hugging the bottom of a branch with its claws dug into the bark, trying to blend in. It didn't work, but I guess you could say I was fascinated by the creature. Mainly the claws. I thought they looked pretty dangerous...and dangerous is what I need right now.
I'm not sure if Sneasels are common in the area, but I'm inclined to believe this one I found was previously owned. I think it was released into this forest, but the way it acts makes me believe that it didn't want to go back to the wild. I guess I'm the first trainer it's found since it was let free. It didn't even ask for a fight, it just climbed into one of my Poké Balls once I'd convinced it to come close enough. And for such a temperamental little creature, it seems like it's pretty happy to have found someone. I guess I am, too.
